Bob Lemon went the distance as the red-hot Cleveland Indians beat the New York
Yankees by a score of 2 to 1.

Cleveland had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits.
After an out was recorded, Jim Hegan initiated the scoring spurt when he drew
a walk. Lemon followed next and he doubled. After another out, Ray Boone
then banged out a single scoring a run. Mickey Vernon followed and he laced
a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Neither team was able to
score until the 7th inning.

The win went to Lemon(10-4) who allowed 1 run in the game. The loss was
charged to Allie Reynolds(8-6). For Cleveland, the victory kept their
winning streak on the march. 'Everything seems to be going right for us' said
Lou Boudreau. 'I've got the easiest job in the league right now!'
