1949 AL Game Stories and Standings: Boston's on a Roll

July 29, 1949

Now it's the Boston Red Sox that are red-hot and on a 10 game winning streak. Earlier this month it was the Cleveland Indians that won 10 in a row. All the while, the New York Yankees have been struggling a little in July going 12-12. This has allowed Boston and Cleveland both to inch closer to the 1st place Yankees.
Today the Boston Red Sox took both games of a double-header from Cleveland. Boston is now in 2nd place, 1.5 games behind New York. Cleveland drops to 3rd place, 2.5 games behind.
