TEAM RISP- Senators: 5 for 14 Yankees: 7 for 16

Joe Dimaggio slammed 3 homeruns and had 10 RBI at Yankee Stadium as the
powerful New York Yankees pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the slumping
Washington Senators by the count of 15 to 12.

New York scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning scoring 4 runners on 3
hits. The key at-bat was by Dimaggio who made the New York fans a happy lot
when he belted a three-run homer. New York kept the scorekeepers busy in the
1st inning which saw them score 5 runs on 4 hits, the 6th inning when they
had 4 runs on 5 hits and the 9th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3
hits. Overall New York out-hit Washington 19 to 10.

Joe Page(5-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 7 runs. Mickey Haefner(4-7) absorbed the loss in relief.

'We just wouldn't give up,' Dimaggio said. 'Much of the credit goes to our
fans - they were with us the whole way.'
