Johnny Mize cracked 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Monte Kennedy was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game as the New York
Giants defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5 to 3 at Polo Grounds.

Mize enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He lofted a three-run
'big-fly' in the 1st inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 3rd inning and
smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 6th inning. New York had a total
of 9 hits for the game.

The winning pitcher was Kennedy(1-2) who allowed 3 runs for the game. Jim
Hearn(1-1) ended up with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 8 innings.

'Everything seemed to click today,' Mize said 'if it could only be this easy
all the time!'
