1949 AL Game: NY@Det.

 In the only game scheduled today in the AL, the 1st place New York Yankees and 2nd place Detroit Tigers matched up in Game 2 of a 3 game series at Briggs Stadium in Detroit. The Tigers won Game 1 of the series 6-2 but faced a tougher battle today. The Yankees got off to a quick start, scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning. The highlight for NY, a 2-run homer by Tommy Henrich. The Yankees added a run in the 2nd and 2 in the 3rd, chasing Tiger starter Ted Gray. Henrich added another homerun and RBI while going 3 for 3 with 2 walks during the game. Vic Raschi went the distance for New York getting his 4th Win of the season.

Tommy Henrich ripped 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Vic Raschi had a complete
game as the New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers by a score of 7 to
3.
 
Henrich had a good day at the plate.  He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st
inning, slapped a single in the 3rd inning and ripped a solo home run in the
7th inning.  New York had a total of 14 hits for the game.  
 
Raschi(4-1) allowed 3 runs on the game. Ted Gray(1-1) was hit with the loss.
He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 6 runs in 3 innings.
