1949 World Series Game 4

October 8, 1949

New York starter Tommy Byrne was effectively wild today leading the Yankees to a 6-3 victory in Game 4 of the 1949 World Series. Byrne walked 9 in the game but gave up only 3 runs on 3 hits. Brooklyn starter Joe Hatten was just plain wild, walking 7 and allowing 2 homeruns in his 4 innings of work. Byrne got into trouble in the 9th inning but Joe Page came on once again to close out the Win for New York. The Yankees now lead the Series 3 games to 1.
