1949 World Series Game 3

October 7, 1949

Once again it was the visiting team scoring in the 1st inning to grab a quick lead. But this time it was the Yankees plating the 1st 2 runs of the game. Brooklyn's Duke Snider tied it up in the bottom of the 2nd with a 2 run homer off New York starter Eddie Lopat. In the top of the 3rd Joe DiMaggio hit a 2 run shot of Brooklyn starter Rex Barney for a 4-2 New York lead and the Yankees never trailed again, winning Game 3 9-2. Lopat ran into trouble in the bottom of the 7th with his team leading 6-2. Brooklyn loaded the bases, but Joe Page came on in relief and put an end to the Dodger rally. New York holds a 2-1 Series lead now.
